Pick-a-Little, Talk-a-Little

Hello there. I created this blog because I have a strange impulse control disorder that is not well known, addressed much online, nor elsewhere. I have onychotillomania. I pick at my nails. I pick at my nails because it soothes me. I pick at my nails to the point of it being painful, until they bleed and I have destroyed my nail bed since they have been picked to the cuticle. But the satisfaction received outweighs the negatives. Lately, it's gotten particularly bad. I thought there must be others out there dealing with this. I also identify with those coping with dermotillomania or trichotillomania and welcome correspondence from these groups as well. I welcome correspondence from anyone, I just mean to say that those groups in particular relate to this disorder.

I am working on getting this disorder under control, and have made progress in the past. However, I have relapsed recently. I hope this blog will motivate myself and others to overcome these damn urges.
